Ways To Grow Your Business

Looking to grow your business? Who isn’t!? The start of a new year is when all of make resolutions and in addition to the personal goals you make, growing your business is a top goal for any professional. Generating new business and growing your customer base is necessary to succeed, it doesn’t happen overnight. If your sales have recently hit a plateau, the Builders Association of South Central Oklahoma provides many opportunities to connect to potential new customers and grow your business. Check out these proven ways to grow your business.

Ways To Grow Your Business

  1. Call a member and introduce yourself. Do you know all of the BASCO members? Our online member directory spotlights the members. Go to BASCO-OK.com and click Find A Pro. Looking to connect with a builder? Find the Builder category. There’s financial members. Trades. Suppliers. Many fellow members to connect with.
  2. Attend a quarterly luncheon. Each January, April, July, and November, BASCO hosts a quarterly luncheon. In addition to the interesting speakers, there’s opportunity to network with other members before, during, and after the event.
  3. Attend an event. BASCO hosts fun events throughout the year. Our bowling tournament in February. The Associates Showcase in March. Axe throwing, golf tournament, Christmas parties. Plenty of fun events to meet new people and potential new clients.
  4. Visit a member at their business. Schedule time to visit with a member at their business. Learn about their operation and see their showroom or office. It’s a more personal way to connect with them than “over a beer” (with all due respect to tall ones!)
  5. Send a referral or lead to a member. You want to really endear yourself with a member? Send them business! When someone asks them “who do you know that _____?” what’s the chance they think of you and sends you a lead?
  6. Attend a member’s house in the Festival of Homes. The annual showcase of homes in June gives you an opportunity to see the builder’s handiwork. Catch him or her at the right time, and you might get a personal tour of the home and get some inside information on how they go about building.
  7. Join a committee. BASCO operates with the help of committees. The Board oversees the operations of the Association. The Associates Council plans the networking events mentioned above. The Legislative Affairs Committee monitors the happenings at City Halls in BASCO’s service area. The Festival of Homes Committee plans the annual showcase. For information on these committees, call Stephen or Brenda at the office.
  8. Send an introduction card or letter to members. Lost is the art of the greeting card or an attractive mailer. Get the mailing labels from BASCO, design an attractive mailer or card, and drop each member an introduction to your service or product.
  9. Update your listing on BASCO-OK.com. Each member has their own profile on the BASCO Membership Directory. Is your listing as robust as it can be? You can add a description of your product or service, links to your website and social media channels, pictures, and videos. See your listing and send Stephen or Brenda whatever needs to be added. A more robust listing and links will help your own site’s search results. And when someone refers to your listing, they’ll know more about you and be that much closer to do business with you!
  10. Offer a member-to-member discount. A percentage off. Free consultation. Free delivery. Consider a discount for BASCO members to drive sales. Here’s ideas other than “10% off.”
  11. Invite members to an office party or after hours. Get BASCO members in your showroom or office. Have something to snack on and something cool to drink. Most importantly, have your staff ready with your “elevator speech” and an attractive brochure or flyer ready for them to take with them. We’ll help promote your afterhours through BASCO.
  12. Follow members on social media to get to know them. Then set up one-on-ones. Before that coffee or drink after hours, know if Dan likes to hunt or if Stephanie likes theater. That will give you something to talk about when you meet, and a possible immediate connection.
  13. Mentor a new member. New members join the association all the time. They come in needing someone to “take them under their wing” and “show them the ropes.” Mentor the new member for a year and then there will be a bond. As their business grows and they hear of leads, who will they refer the leads to?
  14. Host an education session for builders to learn more about your product. What’s the latest in your product? How will your product help builders save time or money? Host an education session at your site or we can host at the BASCO office. Naturally we’ll help promote it!
